Below are the current Anywhere Service Projects offered by Youth Action Collective. These projects are available year-round and can be completed whenever it works best for you—there are no deadlines or sign-up limits. New projects will be added each quarter, so check back often for new ways to serve! Our goal is to make volunteering accessible for everyone, which is why we strive to keep material costs as low as possible. A $ symbol indicates that some materials will need to be purchased to complete the project.
Leave it Better
In this project, volunteers will explore what it means to make a positive impact through everyday actions. Together, we’ll focus on the idea of “leaving it better than you found it”—whether that’s a place, a situation, or a person’s day. Volunteers will also practice being “clue collectors,” paying close attention to the people and world around them to notice where kindness, help, or encouragement is needed.
- Through this experience, participants will learn that how we treat others and care for our surroundings truly matters. They’ll also begin to understand that just as we look out for others, there will be times when we need others to notice and support us too. This project encourages empathy, awareness, and the power of small actions to make a big difference.
- This project can be completely FREE, but may involve a cost depending on how volunteers choose to “leave it better than they found it.”
Yes, I CAN!
Yes, I CAN! is a simple service project where volunteers collect canned and nonperishable food items from friends and neighbors to help support local families through the food bank at the Fairfield Township office.
- The Fairfield Township trustee provides food and connections to life-stabilizing resources for neighbors when they need it most.
- Volunteers will be provided with all the materials needed to host their own mini food drive, making it easy to get started. They’ll also have the opportunity to invite and challenge friends to join to collect even more donations!
- This project is FREE, unless volunteers choose to purchase additional food items to donate.

Walk, Wag, Repeat
Participants will visit Natalie’s Second Chance Shelter to walk dogs, provide companionship, and help shelter pets get the exercise and attention they need. Volunteers can also collect and donate dog treats, toys, and other approved supplies to support the shelter and make a difference for animals waiting for their forever homes.
- To participate in dog walking at Natalie’s Second Chance Shelter, volunteers must sign up for a scheduled walking time directly through Natalie’s. All children must be accompanied by an adult, and the accompanying adult is responsible for holding the dog’s leash and supervising the walk at all times.
- This project is a great way for animal lovers of all ages to practice kindness, responsibility, and compassion while making a difference for furry friends in our community.
- This project is FREE, unless volunteers choose to purchase additional food items to donate.
Happy Mail
Participants will discover the journey of a letter through the postal system while learning how the post office processes and delivers mail. Volunteers will practice addressing an envelope, learn proper mailing etiquette, and create a special card to send to a loved one. This project combines creativity, kindness, and a little bit of postal magic to help participants brighten someone’s day.
- Participants will get to design a personalized card, practice their creativity, and send a thoughtful message to someone special while learning the excitement of how mail travels from their hands to a mailbox.
- $ Participants will need to purchase one postage stamp.
